Trying to Tighten my Pencils. Any tips?

Sat Jul 4, 2009, 11:21 PM
I've been having a bit of trouble lately trying to really get more cleaner and smoother pencil lines in my pages. Perhaps I'm still at a point where I'm just getting comfortable with my work I'm not sure. It may be a technical problem with my pencils. I may be using the wrong ones when I'm rendering.
Should I use a heavier lead?
For my initial images I use a HB mechanical pencil and then I move up to a 2B for my darker lines. I've noticed with my pencil work is that it often looks sketchy and ill defined. I'm really trying to get that smooth clean look that I see a lot of pros have in their finished pages? Should I redraw my pages once I finish them or am I just going about it in the wrong way? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
